: A popular TV couple of the 2010s is making a return:\u00a0<\/span>Nina Dobrev<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>Paul Wesley<\/a>, who played two of the leads of the hit CW series\u00a0<\/span>The Vampire Diaries<\/a><\/em>, are reuniting to star in another book adaptation,\u00a0<\/span>You Deserve to Know<\/a>.<\/em>\u00a0The project from\u00a0<\/span>Alex Cooper<\/a>\u2018s Unwell and\u00a0<\/span>Aaron Kaplan<\/a>\u2018s\u00a0<\/span>Kapital Entertainment<\/a> has landed at Hulu for development in a competitive situation.
<\/span><\/p>\n

Written by\u00a0<\/span>Grand Hotel<\/em>\u00a0developer Brian Tanen based on the 2025 novel by Aggie Blum Thompson,\u00a0<\/span>You Deserve to Know<\/em> follows three suburban couples \u2014 next-door neighbors and best friends. When one of their husbands is murdered, a shocking trail of secrets is revealed, and their friendship cracks wide open.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to starring, Dobrev and Wesley executive produce alongside Tanen and Thompson as well as Unwell\u2019s Cooper, Matt Kaplan and Mina Lefevre and Kapital Entertainment\u2019s Kaplan. Co-executive producing are Kapital\u2019s Jaiden Kaplan & Dylan Hammalian and Unwell\u2019s Paul Kim and Kendall Boucher. Kapital and 20th Television are the studios.

Kaplan is bringing Dobrev and Wesley together having previously worked with each of them individually. Dobrev starred in Kapital\u2019s multi-camera comedy\u00a0Fam\u00a0<\/em>for CBS, while Wesley starred in the company\u2019s psychological thriller\u00a0Tell Me a Story<\/em>\u00a0for CBS All Access (now Paramount+)<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Kapital\u00a0developed medical drama<\/a>\u00a0Vital Signs<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>with Tanen at ABC and\u00a0Dead Letters<\/em>\u00a0with Unwell at Netflix\u00a0with Lucy Hale attached to star<\/a>\u00a0and sold two other Thompson books to Peacock and Netflix. Tanen also is co-writing with Tinx\u00a0a series adaptation of her book<\/a>\u00a0The Shift<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>for Kapital and Amazon.<\/p>\n

You Deserve to Know\u00a0<\/em>marks a second high-profile sale at Hulu for Kapital in the past month following\u00a0What Remains<\/em>,\u00a0starring and executive produced by Kerry Washington<\/a>. Kaplan also produced the series\u00a0Black Cake<\/em>\u00a0for the streamer.<\/p>\n

This also marks Tanen\u2019s return to Hulu, where he was executive producer and co-showrunner on\u00a0Love, Victor<\/em>. Before that, he was executive producer\/showrunner on ABC\u2019s\u00a0Grand Hotel,<\/em>\u00a0which he also adapted from a Spanish format, and Lifetime\u2019s\u00a0Devious Maids<\/em>, and co-executive producer on Netflix\u2019s\u00a0Atypical<\/em>. Tanen is repped by UTA and Hansen Jacobson Teller.<\/p>\n

Dobrev and Wesley starred together in the first six seasons of\u00a0The Vampire Diaries<\/em> as Elena and Stefan, who started off as a couple before she fell in love with Stefan\u2019s brother Damon (Ian Somerhalder) in one of YA TV\u2019s most iconic love triangles of the 2010s. Wesley stayed on for the show\u2019s entire eight-season run, with Dobrev returning for the series finale.
Recently, Dobrev starred in and produced the short film\u00a0General Admission<\/em>, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. Next, she stars in the action thriller feature\u00a0The Get Out<\/em>\u00a0alongside Russell Crowe, Aaron Paul and Theresa Palmer, and stars in and executive produces\u00a0It Happened One Summer,<\/em>based on the romance novel of the same name. As Deadline reported, Dobrev\u00a0is attached to headline and executive produce<\/a>\u00a0erotic thriller series\u00a0Night Float<\/em> in the works at Fifth Season. She is repped by CAA, Lighthouse Management + Media and Hansen Jacobson Teller.<\/p>\n

Wesley recently wrapped a recurring role opposite Christina Hendricks in the upcoming third season of the Apple TV series\u00a0The Buccaneers.<\/em>\u00a0He also recently wrapped the fifth and final season of Paramount+\u2019s\u00a0Star Trek: Strange New Worlds<\/em>, where he plays the iconic James T. Kirk. Wesley, who also recently starred in the Shutter feature\u00a0History of Evil,\u00a0<\/em>is repped by Verve and Anonymous Content.<\/p>\n

Thompson, whose books also include\u00a0I Don\u2019t Forgive You, Such a Lovely Family<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0All the Dirty Secrets<\/em>, is repped by WME and Katie Shea Boutillier of Donald Maass Literary Agency.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
